Dharma Art Haiku

To bring grace & ease in the day

The other morning, I allowed myself time to sit and write haiku. Whenever I give myself these moments to look around at the ordinary everyday world, and write haiku, I feel more calm and grounded.

Some of these poems have been inspired by Chöygam Trungpa’s book: True Perception: The Path of Dharma Art. I’ve been reading his book as a way to slow down and consider the type of art I’m bringing into the world.

May these poems inspire grace and ease for your ordinary divine day!

The Ground of Being
always present, vast acceptance

Branches, leafless
bark glowing smooth and strong
I sit, abiding

Time is patient
our minds rush, rush, rush around
pause-minute-breathe

Tension
a guard dog, hungry and waiting
Breath: feeds and nourishes

All is here,
accompaniment of silence
divine ordinary moment
